After spending a few days out in the bush by myself, the isolation inspired this post-apocalyptic track that also felt very real at the time with the bushfires, the start of a pandemic, and all the madness of the world.
lyrics
The red moon hung low over the city
Damp air clung tightly to my skin
Walked those streets so dark and empty
Few remnants left of what had been
Water lines on every building
Nature beginning to reclaim
All we used and all we squandered
Just looking out for our own gain
Maybe some would think it’s sadness
To see this world without our mark
But the world is moving on without us
And we have left too many scars
Now the water has stopped rising
And the fires have gone out
Not a trace of man kind left now
And that’s the fate we brought about
