We are walking on a hollow earth
That’s been stripped of all it’s glory
There are beings living deep, deep down
Who watch the story unfold
We are wading in the shallow earth
Where once mighty trees have fallen
Digging deeper, so many answers we seek
Little do we know, who might come calling
We are searching through this empty earth
Trying to deny our cursory existence
Half mad with hope, we seek utopia
Done with the path, of least resistance
Now we wander through this hollow earth
Where our lands are parched and fallow
Let this land lie, while we come to terms
Just how much did we not know?

The wind holds the night, caressed in it’s arms
Small drops of rain, fall into my palms
On the edge of the sand, water clear and sweet,
In the light of the moon, here lies the utter east
Beyond the horizon ships move across the sky
And shadows of sails, fall on waves so high
So clear I can hear it, the songs of the sea
Whispering tales of the utter east
A hand raised toward me, in greeting from afar
The edge of the world, winked out it’s last star
The sky turning silver, the sea flattened to me
A path across the stillness, at last the utter east

The red moon hung low over the city
Damp air clung tightly to my skin
Walked those streets so dark and empty
Few remnants left of what had been
Water lines on every building
Nature beginning to reclaim
All we used and all we squandered
Just looking out for our own gain
Maybe some would think it’s sadness
To see this world without our mark
But the world is moving on without us
And we have left too many scars
Now the water has stopped rising
And the fires have gone out
Not a trace of man kind left now
And that’s the fate we brought about

In the far reaches of the universe,
A part of me finds
I don’t belong in just one place,
Or just one time
There are many different paths I’ve walked
I know to exist
But my perception of reality
Is hit and miss

And in these connections I find
The loneliness in all things
Oh but in my solitude
There is peace to be found
And I have learnt through my wanderings
