Originally inspired by a Memory Palace episode about a race of superhuman beings who live in the centre of the Earth, this song is about what might happen if we start digging to look for them and what will happen to the Earth in this crazy quest to find something more.
lyrics
We are walking on a hollow earth
That’s been stripped of all it’s glory
There are beings living deep, deep down
Who watch the story unfold
We are wading in the shallow earth
Where once mighty trees have fallen
Digging deeper, so many answers we seek
Little do we know, who might come calling
We are searching through this empty earth
Trying to deny our cursory existence
Half mad with hope, we seek utopia
Done with the path, of least resistance
Now we wander through this hollow earth
Where our lands are parched and fallow
Let this land lie, while we come to terms
Just how much did we not know?
